I use my Apple iPhone 12 Pro to control my GoPro, garage door and cameras. It plays music, podcasts, and often provides directions. It warns me about police traps and tells me the speed limit, and now Apple is promoting how the new iPhone 14 will work as an emergency location device, communicating to satellites in certain situations, although that’s USA-only for now.

It also drives me bonkers trying to get everything to work together.

Elsewhere in these pages you’ll find a review of two Sena communications devices — the 50C and 50S. We’ve been using them not just to communicate between the headsets, but also connected them to phones and bikes. These new headsets are the first units I’ve tried which I actually think I’ll continue to use regularly, because they are loud enough, comfortable enough, very functional and easy enough to use (although there’s a learning curve). The benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I’ll also admit I haven’t tried any other motorcycle communicators in years and years, because they didn’t suit the riding I did.
