ay's hot rod obsession began when he was introduced to local hot rodder and mentor, Mark Conforth. In his early teens, Jay would spend much time hanging around Mark's Auto Body Shop, which always had multiple cars and many car projects in the works. Jay found himself absorbing all the information and knowledge he could. After his marriage and purchasing a home, Jay and his wife were walking in their neighborhood; he noticed a mint 1962 Impala SS 409 convertible, and next to it was a 1930 Ford Model A which was disassembled in the late sixties.
