ROAD TO RECOVERY

Packing my things together, and shutting my car boot, I was ready to set off on the journey I had ahead.

With lockdown restrictions easing, it finally meant that I was able to leave my party lifestyle at the University of Kent, to see my family.

It was only an hour drive to my hometown in Essex, so it wouldn’t be long until I’d see my dad Clive, now 64, mum Terri, 51, brother Harry, 23, sister Hattie, 20.

And we sure had a reason to celebrate all together.

Turning 63, we had organised a fancy meal out for Dad, on 7 June 2020, buying him a bunch of garden centre vouchers, as well as bringing plenty of family and friends together all in one place.

All I had to do was pop on the motorway in my Citroen C1 and hunker down for the evening before turning my attention to all things birthday.
