If you could print your own money, what would you do with it? On Black Friday, a group of hobby writers found themselves in that position and decided they would save a foodbank – at Amazon’s expense.

The We Care foodbank in South London was facing closure after receiving a £33,000 energy bill. Its founders feared what would happen to the thousands of vulnerable people it helps. Now it will be able to operate for another year as a result of a Robin Hood-esque fundraising odyssey which includes a former prime minister, a group of friends calling themselves the Tripe Marketing Board and an accidental goldmine
