Cancelling nights

We would also like to join the band of members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club who have written to it recently and have not had a reply.

There are huge increases in prices and requiring a deposit with a three-week cancellation rule in place.

We are in our 70s and, at our age, anything unexpected can happen within three weeks. We have never, in over 15 years, cancelled or not turned up without notice at a site.

Will any cancellation with good justification inside three weeks be dealt with sympathetically? Doctors’ letters cost money. The supposedly high percentage of block bookers and non-arrivals could easily be monitored and dealt with but, no, we all suffer and pay the price.

Our membership is now under review.

A follow-up to our review

We've only just returned from our final trip this year and found MMM on the doormat with our motorhome report in (November 2022, p119). We wanted to add a few points.

The last magazine contained a whole section on Spain, including over 160 aires. One such region was the Bardenas Reales, a natural park in northern Spain (photo below). It was as if we were transported to the Wild West. I think many spaghetti westerns were filmed there in the past. Amazing scenery, but the roughest unpaved road about 22 miles long to drive around it.

Whilst in Spain our water heater went wrong again then corrected itself, but halfway back through France it went wrong again for two days.

We rushed back to the dealer, arriving on a Friday mid afternoon. The boiler part had arrived and it could fit us in on Monday, but our boat was also on Monday.

The company arranged for a technician to work on Saturday. He started at 9am and we were given an electric car for the day and told to go back at 3pm. He had to remove the Truma from behind the kitchen and take out the cooker to
