PIPER to the Sovereign

A royal role introduced by Queen Victoria, the Piper to the Sovereign, is considered by many to be the top piping gig in the world.

The current holder of the role, Pipe Major Paul Burns, who became the 17th Piper to the Sovereign in 2021, no doubt looks familiar to many, as, at Her Majesty’s funeral in September and he played again as the Queen was interred in the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor.
