Your feature in the June/Julyno longer the original, replaced with one from an XJ6. The spindles of the secondary throttle discs were so worn out that it was hardly possible to adjust those Stromberg carburettors. Back then, I happened to be Stateside for training in the Air Force, after which, I took the car back home with me to Germany. I did my best to get it back in shape, but unfortunately just when it was almost where I wanted it, I had to sell it! Its lack of space for a growing family and an insufficient budget to hold it as a hobby car forced the sale. Somehow, I stayed infected with the Jaguar virus (a much more pleasant one than COVID!) and so I got me a 1965 3.8S a few years later that I rebuilt completely and still own. The virus mutated when some Jaguar enthusiasts chose to select me to be the President of Germany’s largest Jaguar brand club. Somewhere in the States back then, I came across the Issue from April 1970 that included the attached advert, it corresponds well with the one you show on page 53. It’s now in a frame on a wall where I also keep some pictures of my E-Type as a memento of past times.
