They say that fashion repeats itself every 20 years, but what about styles that transcend the times? Are over a thousand years enough for inspiration? For the sixth edition of luxury brand Bulgari’s ‘Serpenti Through The Eyes Of’—an annual collaboration between the Maison and designers to reinterpret the iconic Bulgari snake—designer Charaf Tajer has turned to ancient Greece as well as classic tennis for a two-part capsule collection.
“The founder of Bulgari, Sotirios Boulgaris, was from Greece, so he India in an exclusive tête-à-tête. “When I began work on this collection, I was given access to the Bulgari archives and books…coins, architecture, and information on ancient Greece. To this, I added some interesting hues. I’m a person of colour, so I love researching in this direction,” says the 37-year-old designer who was born in Paris, and is of Moroccan descent.
