What are your first recollections of the beach?

Since before I was born, my old man was into windsurfing. I grew up in Redcliffe, near Brisbane, and riding home from school, Queens Beach North was on my route. I would watch the wind-surfers and kiters before continuing my journey home. It wasn’t till I was nine years old that I told my old man that I wanted to windsurf with him, but he already had his eyes on kiting. He took me along to our local kite shops only to find that no one wanted to give me lessons as I was so young and light. They recommended I fly a trainer kite first to see if I was actually keen. That afternoon we drove down to Queens Beach to fly this trainer kite. I was instantly hooked, feeling the power and having full control. I really
