Kent, you really did go the extra mile! What motivated you to clock so much time on the water, 10 hours on one day alone?!
This actually wasn’t my first time competing in the WOO Worlds, as last year I was in another team (Danish Daisies) that included Nick Jacobsen, and we came first for total height and second on team distance. I am motivated by my sheer competitive nature. I love to go for it no matter what the prize is. The WOO Worlds total distance challenge is potentially boring to achieve, but I love to go inside myself and dig deep to find the will to keep going. Anyone can do it, but it takes discipline and I like to test my own physical endurance as well as my mental state.
How did you go about choosing the rest of the team?
I selected a team of enthusiastic ‘average Joe’ riders rather than hot shot pros. I needed fun, passionate, committed individuals that had the time to put in on the water. Only I had competed before in the WOO Worlds 2021, although team member Milan Lukic is sometimes in the BAKL. It’s really amazing to see how tangible results can be if you put your mind to it. The whole team invested a lot into the contest including time and money – gas isn't cheap and people took a lot of time off work. Stefan worked from seven in the morning till one o'clock and then went out on the water. He basically scheduled his clients around the WOO Worlds. Michael was only on the water for six days as he’s a soldier. Luckily, his boss and colleagues understand his passion for kiting.
