It’s a Mod World Brighton Mod Weekender August Bank Holiday

Brighton hasn’t always embraced its association with the Mod fraternity. Arguably the most notorious link is the Whitsun Mods and Rockers clashes, over-reported by some red top tabloids. During the late ’70s cult film Quadrophenia, with many scenes shot on location there, would immortalise that connection on an international scale. However, during the early years of the Scooterboy era, only once was Brighton chosen as a rally destination, in July ’82. Those who attended that particular National will recall that visiting scooterists were directed to the far end of Madeira Drive, with their scooters effectively impounded until Sunday morning.
