Cars have faces. There is no question about that. We’ll swerve what the movies did because that went against the accepted car-face convention (though we get why they did it), and if you do that, then we’re all in agreement that the headlights are obviously the eyes, and the grille forms the mouth. It’s fair to say that most factory MINIs are designed with cute and friendly faces, and while the Cooper S and JCW models definitely have a bit more attitude, they’re not really angry-looking cars. James Caborn’s R56 JCW, however, is another matter entirely. James’ R56 is not a friendly car. It’s not cute and smiley, it’s not happy to see you, and it doesn’t want to be your friend.
