BAG

Create a useful tote out of motifs and try the inset crochet technique at the same time with this design by Marianne Rawlins

■ Caron Simply Soft (100% acrylic, 170g/288m), 2 balls of each: Dark Country Blue (9711), Pumpkin (9765), 1 ball of each: Bone (9703), Pistachio (0003)

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

TENSION

Tension is not critical for this project, but it may affect the yarn quantities required

MEASUREMENTS

Bag measures approx 42x38cm (16½x15in)

NOTES

Bag is made of 18 Squares, eached worked in rows and sewn together. The Strap is made separately and sewn to the top at the end. Squares are worked in the inset crochet technique. Each row is worked in one colour with ch-sps worked when skipping a st. Then on the next row in the new colour, tr sts are worked into the skipped sts and in front of the ch-sps, leaving the ch-sps on the WS.

Make 9 using Dark Country Blue as Yarn A and Pumpkin as Yarn B.

Make 9 using Pumpkin as Yarn A and Dark Country Blue as Yarn B.

Using Yarn A, ch22.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [21 sts]

Ch1 (does not count as st throughout), dc in each st across,
