The African Nations Championship (CHAN) will get underway in Algeria in January 2023, one year behind schedule because of the knock-on effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with its future up in the air.
It will be the seventh edition of the tournament first introduced in 2009 and competed for by quasi-national teams, restricted to home-based players only, but could be consigned to the scrap heap if Africa’s Super League ever gets underway.
