“It’s ‘spooky season’ so I made cider!” Madelyn Cline announces via Zoom, raising her glass to the camera. “Growing up, my mom made in lockdown. “I could see that the show was getting a lot of popularity on social media,” says Cline referring to the viral TikTok dance made from a soundbite of her voice. “I didn’t really realise the magnitude of it until we were out of lockdown. It’s still quite shocking sometimes.” Despite becoming one of the most recognisable voices on social media, Cline, who has more than 12.5 million Instagram followers, admits it hasn’t deterred her. “I’m on a few sides of TikTok. I’ve been on ‘PsychicTok’, which is really fascinating. I’m very guilty of getting my tarot cards read. I’ve also been on ‘MushroomTok’ too. But not the regular kind.”
