What’s the threat?

Cyber-criminals are beating Windows security by tricking people into downloading malicious files that don’t trigger the usual safety warnings.

Normally, when you try to download a file from what Windows considers to be an untrusted source, it will ask whether you’re sure you want to open it). To do this, Microsoft uses ‘Mark of the Web’, which is a piece of code added to a web page to indicate its origin, for security purposes.
