In 2012, with rhinos in the Kruger National Park being targeted on an almost daily basis, retired Major General Jooste was enlisted to come up with a battle plan to win the war against poaching.
It was his job to turn the demoralised rangers into the best anti-poaching unit in Africa. Jooste’s vision included not only better training and arms, but to improve uniforms, accommodation, backup and psychological assistance when needed.
