Oily head – leaky bottom

Moving on from the top-end rebuild that we completed last month, I now shifted my mind to the issue of the ‘soft kick-start’. I was reminded of the time that I fitted a BGM clutch to my PX125 and had a similar issue; despite the clutch adjuster being slackened off to the max, the clutch was still engaging when I attempted to kick-start the scooter. I tried at the time, in vain, to resolve the problem by Dremeling various ribs and protrusions from the inside of the clutch cover, but in the end, all that was needed was a simple 1mm spacer between the cover and case.
