CARD SHOP CONCERNS

A few of the early dominoes in the new world order of sports cards and collectibles started to fall shortly after The National in Atlantic City in late July.

The largest sports card distributor on the planet, GTS Distribution, was informed by Topps, the most iconic name in the history of sports cards, that it would lose its license to distribute Topps cards at the end of year.

On the surface, this was not necessarily a good or bad development for the hobby, but it was huge news nonetheless.

Brick-and-mortar card shops such as ours here in Central Pennsylvania have seen the writing on the wall for quite some time, but now it is being carved in stone. While we continue to stay the course, it's impossible to avoid some of the seismic shifts in the hobby.
