NOT A COP IN SIGHT!

LIFE is very different for this family these days. They’ve swopped their house in Pretoria for a home in the Garden Route town of George and spend their days enjoying nature and looking after their grandchildren.

But moving provinces hasn’t stopped them from being recognised from the video that went viral three years ago and spawned the national punchline: “Hugo, bel die polisie (Hugo, call the police)!”

Wynand and Ronel Janssen have tried hard to put their street-fighting days behind them, but people still recognise Wynand on the street and shout, “Here comes Hugo-bel-die-polisie!”
