Purchased long ago from eBay (ebay.co.uk), this anonymous 'scrapbook' had no known provenance. Any clues as to its origins are contained within its visual contents, esnecially photos.

These comprise formal studio portraits, picturesque views of tourist sites, and elegant country house and estate scenes, from games of lawn croquet to shooting and hunting parties. The latter are rare private 'snapshots' captured by an early family photographer with both the leisure time and financial means to pursue what was then an elite pastime. The limited historical evidence offers a broad geographical location and reinforces the high social status of the album's creator,
