You don’t see ‘British made’ much in cycling these days. It conjures images of quaint black and white magazine ads selling heavy roadsters made by BSA or Triumph. Relics of a past time. Perhaps I’ve spent too much time thumbing through CW’s amazing archive lately, but ‘British made’ is, in fact, very much alive and well.
There are custom frame builders of course, as well as more niche brands like Pashley or Brompton, and Carradice. But how about a popular, cutting-edge clothing brand? Lusso celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and is a mainstay for many cyclists both British and international. You may have a pair of its popular carbon bibshorts in your kit drawer. Or perhaps a jacket or bibtights made from its famously weather-resistant Aqua Repel material. And just as the tag says, they’re Made in Britain.
