THE jump from competitive young show rider to fully fledged professional is a leap many try, and fail, to make, but Lauren Brill has always known that a career in showing was her intended path. The 28-yearold, who started her own production business in 2014, has risen rapidly to the top, thanks to her eagle eye for a future star, unrivalled determination and ability to work with horses of any type, breed or temperament.
This season has been one of Lauren’s most successful to date. At Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), she not only witnessed one of her clients, Lilly Walker, ride the centre line after winning in mountain and moorland (M&M) junior ranks on first-season Welsh section B Melau Aramis (Teddy), but also had her own moment in the spotlight aboard the heavyweight hunter Fuerty Emperor (Gabriel), a 10-year-old Irish Draught, owned by home-producer Jono Fryer, who lifted the title against a star-studded field.
Remarkably, this was Lauren’s HOYS debut in horse classes and she only picked up the ride on Gabriel, an upstanding grey, towards the end of the term.
Lauren runs her team of ponies from a dressage stud in Warwickshire. She
