that's life!

Welcome

hope you’ve been enjoying the team’s recommendations for favourite things we’re watching, reading or listening to each week. This week’s, on page 13, is from our senior copy editor Jude,. It’s based on the hit song of the same name by ‘80s pop group Wham!, which is enough to sell it to me. That happens to be one of my favourite songs, much to the dismay of my husband Simon, who is not a fan of festive music! The topic got us talking in the office about favourite films we all like to watch at this time of year. Sometimes over and over, and over and over, again! Lisa is a fan of pretty much any film with a festive theme. ‘I remember going through the TV guide and circling each one, then waiting patiently for them to come on the telly,’ she said. ‘But these days, I watch them all year long!’ Her latest favourite is, which Lisa’s watched countless times with her 13-year-old daughter, Ava. ‘She’s just discovered which she thought was hilarious,’ said Lisa. ‘I didn’t have the heart to tell her I’d seen it at least 100 times!’ Mari’s family favourite is definitely . ‘My husband, Peter, and I are wondering if it’s pushing it too far to make the kids watch it with us again, now that they’re 20 and 25!’ she laughed. Lizzy’s absolute fave is. ‘It’s just the best,’ she told me, looking distinctly dreamy eyed. And that’s the thing about Christmas films. Watching them on repeat adds to this special time of year, with family and friends and wonderful memories all wrapped up together. Happy viewing!
