Owning a ‘proper’ motorhome, instead of the self-builds we had previously, had been a dream for many years so we decided to buy a nearly new ’van, maybe two or three years old. After visiting a few dealerships and looking on the internet, we soon found out just how much prices had risen in recent times.
Discovering that our original budget of £35-£40,000 wouldn’t get us anything less than seven or eight years old, we were slightly disheartened. We found many models that age looked dated and old fashioned, particularly the interior fabrics.
The majority of motorhomes in that price range were also of a mediumsize, around six metres long, twoberth and quite cramped, it seemed. They didn’t appear to have any more room that the Sprinter and Boxer campervans we had been used to and the whole point here was to upgrade, after all.
PATIENCE PAYS
Undefeated, several dealership visits later, we came upon the Elddis Autoquest 194, at 7.4m long, fourberth and with four travel seats. We both loved it immediately.
The space, the layout, the lightcoloured materials used, the airiness and the LED lighting; it all looked perfect
