More small block adventures

Back home I began thinking about my next hunt when the property owner called. Knowing I had trail cameras set up across the estate, he had phoned to let me know they were planning a fuel reduction backburn. No big rush he said, the burn was probably a week or two away. No problem was my reply.

Over the course of the previous 18 months the property owner had come to appreciate the value of trail cameras, as twice we have recorded footage of two-legged interlopers while I had, in person, intercepted a third such visitor at the paddock gate. At the time I had taken the visitor at his word, though I checked in with the property owner and since then we have managed to keep him off the block.

My intention in placing the cameras before I headed south was to capture images of pigs. Yes, it is a Brisbane Valley deer block, though the best pig I’ve ever taken came from the same location and I wanted a repeat of the first encounter.

For a pig hunter I do all right
