Christmas came early for PC enthusiasts this year. Just a few weeks after AMD launched its Ryzen 7000 series processors, now Intel fights back with its 13th Generation counterpunch. The range – codenamed Raptor Lake, is accompanied by Z790 motherboards, which continue the use of the LGA 1700 socket. Notably for upgraders, this means that moving to a 13th Gen processor can be a cost effective one, as you can drop one into a Z690 or B660 motherboard after a BIOS update.
