For everyone in the UK, the lockdowns were a strange time. But while many of us were watching telly, renowned classic Ford enthusiast, fabricator and feature car builder Ben Szanto found he couldn’t sit on hands and do nothing. With the advantage of a fully-equipped workshop in his back garden, Ben focused on transforming this Mk1 Escort project from a rolling shell to the car you see here and in spectacularly short time. “The build took three months from start to finish,” confirms Ben. “But during lockdown I was working on it from 8 am to midnight most days.”
The result is an incredibly well-finished car with a period look but a modern twist, thanks to the classic colour, comically wide wheels, super-low stance and stunning engine bay.
