STEAM RISES AT KELSALL

It was full steam ahead at the Kelsall Steam & Vintage Rally where a good selection of engines were displayed in front of a large expectant crowd, reports David Reed. This is always a busy event, with hundreds of commercials on show, but here it was steam that ruled with a trip to the parade ring being one of the highlights of the day.

Looking at the engines in more detail, a 1911 Davey Paxman general purpose engine certainly caught the eye. No.16849 is named , and was new to H H Truscott of Grampond Road, Cornwall from the Royal Show, being sold in 1945 to a Mr Tobin for £8 and used by him until the 1950s.
