Can you tell us a little about the history of Tatreez?

The Palestinian art of Tatreez has a 3,000 year long history, it was used by Palestinian women to symbolise socioeconomic status, region and marital status. After 1948 it became a source of income for Palestinian women, especially those in refugee camps. The 60s saw a major shift in the materials used from silk and threaded gold, to cotton and functional fabrics. Designs, patterns and motifs became more geometric because the refugee camps
