Steve’s Yamaha AS1 Part ten

I knew I’d not had everything I wanted for the AS1 zinc plated. And that included the various elements of the rear sprocket carrier. The one I had back in Part 8 was a bastardised spare one I threw in while the original was being freed up with penetrating fluids – 35 years in a damp Welsh coal cellar tends to bind parts together rather well! The bearing was, as you might expect, toast and the oil seal perished. Why anyone would skimp on stuff like this is beyond me but they do; at just a tenner for quality, branded replacements from Bearing Warehouse via eBay, it’s an easy win. The rear sprocket was hooked badly but I’ve unearthedbe denuded of paint and zinc plated with all the other odds and ends.
