Taking charge

“It all started when I was very “ young,” recalls Alan Feast I when he speaks about his love of engineering. “I was in the Cubs and desperate to progress into the Boy Scouts. On one occasion they ran a competition to build something out of matchsticks. I decided to make a model of the Eiffel Tower. To really make it stand out I used a small electric motor, removed from a broken toy, and installed it in the tower to power the lift. I won!
