DESTRUCTION OF CANTERBURY RIVERS & LAKE POLLUTION

To: councillors@ecan.govt.nz

Attn: Chair of ECan. Jenny Hughey

Dear Jenny,
I am a retired general practitioner and an avid fly fisher and I apologise for this long letter. Having held a trout fishing licence for 75 years and started fishing the Avon as an 11 year old, I have seen many changes mostly of the worst kind.

I have written 6 books on NZ fly fishing. My guide books for the North and South islands describe 700 rivers and 150 lakes and were updated four times over a 20 year period. I have fished over 90% of these and visited the remainder. I have presented two programmes on NZ Trout Fishing at the International Fly Fishing Conclaves
