Crash a ‘deliberate act,’ LA sheriff says after driver arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

An investigation is underway after 25 Los Angeles County sheriff’ s cadets were injured Wednesday morning when a driver plowed into them in Whittier.

LOS ANGELES — A 22-year-old Diamond Bar man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on peace officers after the Los Angeles County sheriff said he deliberately ran into scores of recruits on a training run Wednesday in South Whittier, injuring 25.

Investigators “have developed probable cause to believe it was intentional,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in an interview with NewsNation on Thursday.
