Ferguson-Brown does well

Tractor sales in Cumbria have not always done so well over the years, but the W Wharton disposal sale at Green Rose Farm, on Saturday 24 September, turned that around.

Penrith & District Farmers Mart held this on-farm sale at Crackenthorpe, Appleby, in glorious weather and it was made up of 706 lots, with a similar number of registered bidders, plus friends and on-lookers, making this a big day out for everyone.

Top lot on the day was a 1937 Ferguson-Brown A (no. 44), in grade 4.9 condition, that was sold for £22,500. The Ferguson welder unit made its reserve price on the day, at £16,000 (grade 3 condition).

Other implement prices were as follows: Ferguson cement mixer £2,200, Ferguson manure spreader £2,000, Ferguson buck rake £1,600, Ferguson transport box £1,400, Ferguson harrow £500, Ferguson winch £800, Ferguson-Brown two-furrow plough £700, Ferguson-Brown ridger £700, Ferguson sprayer £700, M-H-F spreader £650, M-H 703 £550, M-H spreader £500, and MF transport box £1,400.
