Desktop layout

Each of the distributions has its own take on exactly how the desktop works, but they’ve all stuck to a fairly conventional layout. In other words, you should be able to make a guess as to roughly how they all work at first glance. Even though they all have scope to be customised, we’re going to focus on the default setup that each distribution offers, noting how easy it is to make minor changes.

When we’re considering the scoring, we want the basic functionality to be fast, smooth and intuitive.
