This quilt was made using Maywood’s Woolies Flannel.
□ 1 yard of medium gold print for compass background and outer corners
□ 2 layer cakes of Woolies Flannel in blues, greens, and grays for appliqué and patchwork triangles
□ 5 yards total of assorted prints in quarter yard increments of three greens, three blues, five browns, one yellow, and three tans, plus scraps of white, cream, orange, red, black, and gray
□ ½ yard cream print for compass, house, dog, and snow
□ 1 yard light blue plaid for skies
□ 1 yard brown print for inner border and binding
□ 3 ½ yards fabric of choice for backing
□ 4 yards SF101 Pellon fusible stabilizer
□ 4 yards paper-backed fusible web
□ 1 ball size 12 brown perle cotton for embroidered compass points
□ Permanent fine-point fabric marker for block details
□ Matching threads for machine sewing and appliqué
□ Various colors of DMC floss or perle cotton for embroidery
□ Chenille/embroidery needle
□ Small beads for embellishing
□ Fine gauge rope/twine for canoe rope
□ Protractor
□ Appliqué pressing sheet
□ Spray starch

See Page 95 for general appliqué preparation instructions. Templates in the Template Insert have not been reversed. The only templates with seam allowance indicated by dashed lines are background pieces that reach to the outer edge of the unit or those that overlap others. Many background pieces for the sky, lake, ground, and trees will have multiple templates that need to be combined to make a complete template.
There will be areas where, for example, the sky template for the center circle will go behind the house. To
