Telecaster Transformation

RAISING THE TONE

Regular readers will know that a few years ago I bought a player’s grade Telecaster Custom from the early 70s. The guitar had most of the right bits except for the body, which was a later Warmoth replacement with a high-gloss clear natural finish that seemed out of kilter with the guitar’s honey-toned original neck and vintage hardware. The answer to fixing this mismatch came via Golden Era Aged Guitars of Castledawson, Northern Ireland. The company specialises in lovingly authentic aged guitar bodies finished in classic Duco and Lucite colours from Fender’s 50s and 60s golden years, plus aged sparkle and paisley finishes and more besides.
