A Shakespeare star who became the first artistic director of The Globe Theatre, Mark Rylance parlayed his stage skills to celluloid with Hearts Of Fire, and has since won numerous awards for his film work. He's collaborated with a who's who of directors and is currently getting his teeth into cannibalism in Luca Guadagnino's rom-chomp Bones And All.
How is acting on film different from stage?
In the theatre,] after the take, to get enough versions of the scene that they could then balance. It would be a waste of my energy, and would probably limit what's my job to hand to Luca, in terms of life in front of the camera, and sound in the microphone, for me to consider those questions.
