TIME TO TRAVEL

After three years of Covid lockdowns, closed borders and shut down international travel, everything is open again and many Australian anglers will be looking at getting away or may have already enjoyed a fishing trip interstate or overseas.

Covid played havoc with fishing travel both locally and internationally and there will be many operators and guiding services all around the world looking forward to getting customers back on their books and rods bent. No doubt there will be a lot of anxious anglers out there who may have had to cancel planned trips, looking forward to finally being able to travel to any number of destinations. Many of those anglers will be well travelled fisho’s who have enjoyed previous trips but there will also be plenty of “newbies” who have saved their money and done their research, dreaming about their first serious trip away with a few mates.

WHERE TO GO?

The past several years have seen some exciting new destinations and fishing travel trends develop around the world. Quite a few of these are based around either saltwater fly fishing or stickbait and popper fishing. Both of these forms of fishing head up the pointy end of fishing destinations and have done so for the past decade. Destinations like Christmas Island (Kiritimati) and Florida have been traditional saltwater fly fishing destinations for a long time
