I was sorry to hear about Christine and Bob Walton’s recent experience in France (Practical Motorhome issue 264).
My wife Alison and I took our Swift Norden 599FB van conversion to France for the first time this summer and heeded the advice to avoid motorway service areas for overnight stops.
Instead, we used the guides from Vicarious Media () to find suitable off-motorway stopping places. On the recommendation of our French friends, we also used the park4night app on our Android tablet (I understand that it’s also available for Apple), which we can thoroughly around a place or along a route, and also gives useful reviews.
