a-ha: True North

even years after their comeback album „Cast In Steel“, the Norwegian pop veterans have come together once again for a new album and are entering new territory in terms of production. „True North“ was largely recorded live - together with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra in a studio in Bodø near the Arctic Circle in Norway. Thus, the basic sound of the new record is rather organic and orchestral, but does not miss electro elements. The band roams through various stations from 80s Synth Pop to ballads to nostalgic jazz sounds and delivers an album that, in contrast to its smooth predecessor, is not necessarily aimed at the next big radio single, but shows that the three Norwegians have already absorbed Nordic melancholy
