Kicking up my heels, I linked arms with my dance partner and sang my heart out.
Retired from occupational therapy at the age of 72,1 was embracing a new hobby at Kent Country Folk Dancing group.
Divorced with two grown-up kids, this was my time to have some fun.
So when Jack Wahlberg, then 70, another member of the dance group, suggested singing in a local choir, I jumped at the chance.
‘I’ll give you a lift,’ he said.
Jack was well-known in our town of Faversham.
The town crier, he’d march about at every fete and local event, decked out in his regalia, ringing his bell and booming out ‘Oyez, oyez.’
Such a friendly chap.
His wife was a member too, and having so many new friends was just the ticket to fill up my retirement.
It certainly kept me busy!
I even joined a cycling group that Jack and a few others were in.
In May 2016, we travelled to a folk festival in Belgium.
