Cyclist: This summer was your 20th spent covering the Tour de France. Can you remember that first one?
Ned Boulting: I literally had no understanding of the Tour when ITV sent me – the only rider I’d heard of was Lance Armstrong. I remember sitting down with Gary Imlach, who’d been covering it for ten, 15 years, and expressing absolute shock to him that there were teams in the Tour de France. I simply had no idea – I thought it was every rider for themselves, and if Robbie McEwen is the fastest rider in the Tour de France, why doesn’t he win?
