Sussex summer summary

East Sussex is fortunate in having a high level of enthusiasm for heritage transport. Two of the last major events of the season took place just a fortnight apart this year, and at sites just five miles away from each other.

The Festival of Transport is a long-established fixture, spread over the three days of its traditional August bank holiday date. Held at Hellingly, near Eastbourne, this year’s was the 46th such occasion, putting it among the earliest celebrations of heritage transport to be established.
