Phil Read

Love him or loathe him, most motorcycle enthusiasts in the classic period at least knew the name of Phil Read and had an opinion on the ‘Prince of Speed,’ who has died, aged 83.

From overshadowed boy wonder to pantomime villain, in many ways Read’s career was defined by Mike Hailwood.
