A weighty issue

We’re living in an era of body positivity; as we should be. We should be able to appreciate that the size and shape of our body does not define our worth. That said, obesity is a condition that can’t be ignored. It’s increasingly common in Kiwis, affecting around one in three of us, and the rate among women is growing.

Obesity is not just about carrying weight we might not like. Having obesity is linked with serious health outcomes, including a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia (high cholesterol).
