Specialising in art from remote Aboriginal art centre communities, the Directors’ focus has been in making cultural connections through art. To April 3 Venue: EARLYWORK 330 South Terrace, South Fremantle: RISING by Roxanne Newberry – in this, her first solo exhibition, emerging artist Roxanne Newberry from the Pilbara community of Punmu, WA, represents with energy and aplomb a series of aerial depictions of her father’s country.

To explores the relationships we have with the oceans and seas, ever-changing bodies of water in constant flux, as places of arrival and departure, places of transformation and deep ancestral connection. Presented in association with Perth Festival, this group exhibition brings together artists working in a range of modes and materials, from large format cyanotype to glass neon, installation, photographic and filmic work, offering new ways of understanding the oceans that surround our island continent as sites of tradition, transformation, transience, terror, and turmoil.
