Arch Deco explores resonance and change. Those ideas helped the design team harness the phenomenon of time to give the project an extra dimension. Tone-on-tone colour and space layering was used to reinvigorate this grand double-storey Heritage house in Balwyn. Hindley & Co amplified the great features of the original house and were playful with referencing them in the contemporary rework.

The ‘Chillzone’ immersive interior comprises a tectonic three-tiered seating bank ‘Iceberg’ with two ‘Growlers’ – units that can be manipulated to reconfigure the three-dimensional composition. Derivative of the adjacent Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Crossfade mural is an abstract artwork.
