As well as being a top trials rider and development engineer Sammy Miller alsobusiness in the Sixties and began manufacturing special parts for the trials world. One of his developments was a frame for Bultaco models which, thanks to him having access to higher quality tubing unavailable to the factory at the time, was lighter and stronger. Replacement of the tubes under the engine with an alloy plate instantly gained ground clearance as well as providing a smoother underside to slide over obstacles. When matched with the rest of his Bultaco goodies the result was a machine – in 250cc form at least – a full 28lb lighter than standard. man Peter Fraser tested this special machine in September 1971 and was mightily impressed.
